Egypt: trade min. Highlights enthusiasm for Arab economic integration

Trade and Industry Minister Nivine Gamea stressed that the Egyptian state and political leaders are keen to achieve economic integration in the Arab region.

She added that Egypt wishes to strengthen Arab cooperation in the various fields of trade, industry and investment for a better future for the people of the Arab region.

She pointed out that regional integration is one of the important mechanisms and objectives for achieving sustainable development in the Arab world.

This came in a speech she delivered on behalf of Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli at the first conference of the Arab Competition Network which kicked off at the Arab League headquarters.

She said the network represents an official platform for agencies tasked with protecting competitiveness and fighting monopolies.

She added that the launch of the network and forum comes at an important time given the international economic challenges triggered by the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

She stressed the importance of joining efforts and exchanging views to lighten burdens, realize common interests and fight monopoly.

She highlighted Egypt’s commitment to transparency and governance standards as well as encouraging investment and adopting market control mechanisms in line with the long-term strategic plan to achieve sustainable development in various fields. .
