Energy transition with economic justice

Albuquerque, New Mexico is an ideal place to host this next ASES conference. It is home to the New Mexico Solar Energy Association (NMSEA), the New Mexico chapter of ASES, which is excited to celebrate 50 years of achievement. NMSEA is a non-profit association dedicated to the advancement of solar and related arts, sciences and technologies with particular attention to the ecological, social and economic fabric of the region. The NMSEA was founded in 1972 to advocate for self-sufficient communities. The organization’s first project was the Four-Building Sun-dwellings project which demonstrated different passive solar building techniques. Since then, the NMSEA has provided platforms for information exchange, meetings, publications and technical services as well as the annual Solar Fiesta.

New Mexico has solar roots stretching back thousands of years – from the first indigenous Anasazi inhabitants of the Land of Enchantment, to the early pioneers of solar power in both passive adobe solar houses and photovoltaic power in Sandia National Labs and New Mexico State University (NMSU). New Mexico has become a global leader in the solar manufacturing of large scale solar racks and systems with Unirac and Array Technologies. AlbuquerqueSolAreo Technologies also supplies more than half of the solar cells used in space. The state is endowed with abundant solar and wind resources and the potential to provide the cheapest renewable electricity in the country.

The theme of the conference, “Energy Transition with Economic Justice”, will promote ASES’s mission to “accelerate the equitable adoption of solar energy and a universal sustainable way of life by educating and building a community ”. by following the JEDI principles (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion).

ASES invites you to submit a proposal for presentation at the next National Solar Energy Conference, SOLAR 2022: Energy Transition with Economic Justice, to be held June 21-24 to University of New Mexico at Albuquerque.

Submission details

We offer a variety of presentation options (see below) for you to share your research, programs, operations, personal actions, visions, etc. These include regular session oral presentations (10-12 minutes), ~ switch 5 minute quick presentations, posters (2-3 minute oral presentation), an interactive outdoor exhibit or a hands-on workshop idea.

The runway category is the heading (s) under which your abstract will be reviewed and subsequently accepted or rejected by the SOLAR 2022 Technical Review Committee (TRC). Please fill in all the required information and submit your proposal using the online form not later than November 15, 2021.
